Staff is listed below in no particular order… Basically, as I find pictures of them, I post something…
Here’s a picture from the rededication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly rennovated Bellinger Lodge. Several of the 2007 camp staff were standing together, so I snapped a quick picture. Here you see Pickles, Loki, Peak, Jelly Bean, Rocky, and Butterfly. Loki began as camp director in 2006. Peak is assistant camp director. Rocky works waterfront.
Pickles was at camp from 1973 through 1985. She returned to camp in 2006 and 2007 as a very dedicated volunteer. She is pictured here in a canoe on Keyser Lake at the June 16, 2007 staff reunion which she and A.J. helped organize. (Is there anyone in the world with a more positive attitude?)
Goose and ‘Nnifer were both counselors for only one year - 1982 - though both had been campers many years before. This photo was taken in Strawberry Hill on September 17, 2006 at an informal reunion of some of the 1982 camp staff. Can you see why some campers got the two of them mixed up? Same hair color and length, same glasses, same way of dressing… But get them in bathing suits, then you can tell: Goose is the one with the tattoo!
One year in the 1990s, ‘Nnifer went as Turtle when she served as counselor at Day Camp up on Horton Hill in Jamestown.
Butterfly and Spoot are such die-hard Timbercrest fans that they even visit camp off season on gray drizzly days. On January 13, 2007, these two crazy counselors and their moms took a hike at Timbercrest - just for something to do. Can you tell that this photo was taken out on the peninsula? Look how busy the beavers had been over the winter! That’s Jackman’s Bay on the right side of the picture. Beaver Bay would be to the left.
Butterfly started going to camp in 1996 as a camper and became part of the staff in 2006. Spoot will have to give me more information to ensure that I don’t misrepresent her.
It was so great to see so many old friends and to meet new friends at the staff reunion on June 16, 2007. Here are Nate and Finster - sisters who both worked at Timbercrest. They were pretty famous for their particular way of leading the song Running Bear… or, when they sing it, Running Bare. Nate was at camp 1978-1980. Finster was there 1981-1983 and again in 1987.
to be continued…
